The hydronic heating system is providing the comfort and energy savings that customer had envisaged.

The discrete location of the install behind a purpose-built retractable fence made use of limited space but allows easy access for any required maintenance.

The low decibel noise output of the heat pump has ensured that the house owner and neighbours are not disturbed when the system is running.

How choose a heat pump for your property

Hydronic Heat pumps will be the most efficient way to provide heat for your hydronic system.

A heat pump is an electrical device that extracts heat from one source e.g. the air, water or ground and transfers it to another.

In a hydronic system the heat pumps compressor, pumps, refrigerant and heat exchanger coils transfer the captured heat to water that then circulates through the hydronic systems radiators, slab pipe or convectors.

There are a number of key factors that will need to be taken into account when selecting your heat pump;

  • Required application – is it heating only or heating and cooling possibly with domestic hot water.
  • Heating method – are you installing hydronic radiators, underfloor heating (UFH) or convectors. Lower water temperature systems i.e. UFH can run with Arden heat pumps using R32 gas while higher temperature systems e.g. radiators run with Arden heat pumps using R290 gas
  • Heating capacity requirements. How much heating or cooling does the space require expressed in kilowatts (kW). The larger the number of kW required the higher output capacity of the heat pump needed.
  • Average running decibels:This measures the sound output of the unit. The lower the decibel is, the less noise the unit produces.
  • Energy Efficiency Ratings: In heat pumps the COP (Coefficient of Performance) indicates how much energy the heat pump draws and outputs. In technical terms COP is written as Q/W, where Q is the heat generated and W is the power used. If 15KW is the heat output by the heat pump and it uses 3kW of electrical energy then the COP of the heat pump will be 5
